Pollen is health treasure and bees use it as basic nutrition for their larva mixed with some nectar and saliva. For humans, too, pollen is beneficial.
Composition Pollen contains all of the amino acids, nitrogen, oligo elements, particularly selenium. Often people who have cancer, cardiac and vasculary or inflammatory trouble don’t have enough selenium, enzymes, hormonal substances, many vitamins, mostly B vitamins and hydrolised glucose, which is particularly good for capillary fragility.
Such a rich composition makes pollen very good for human body. It’s ideal to assist the general metabolism, in regenerating a tired, nervous, anemic or growing person.
It seems that pollen has beneficial effect on intestinal and gastric functions, due to its reputed antibiotic properties, but that’s true for fresh pollen and not for dried. In fact, the list of its components and good effects on the health is very long and useful. But it can’t make everything better only accompanied by a healthy life style.
Consumption Quantities depend of age, weight, physical condition and needs. From a child, to a teenager and a grown up, the dosage varies from a half teaspoon to one and two tablespoons for one day, from 12 to 20 grams for one day, maximum, depending the school of thought. You can chew pollen or mix it with a warm beverage with honey, but not too warm (it’s not good for honey’s properties) or mix it with yogurt.
It’s better to take it before eating or between meals.
You can take pollen for a long time, or for a 3 to 6 week treatment, depending on the school of thought and take several cures in one year.
Pollen is sold in organic shops, as a small ball, in a bag or bottle, as a capsule to take before a meal, or as a powder, usually flavoured. It’s also frozen.
Allergy The pollen, harvested by bees, is not the same as air-borne pollen and doesn’t provoke any allergies.
Recipe 1 Morning pollen You are in your kitchen, nobody is around you, it’s a quiet morning moment, enlivened by birds singing. You open the window, the door, depending where you live, you’re on the balcony, at the window, in the garden. The Earth exhales an autumn smell, official calender is not on the nature rhythm. Some late snails go quickly to a protective home, a affectionate and hungry cat comes to rub against your leg and miaow, a titmouse descends on an imprudent insect, the wind blows and the last nuts fall down the grass.
The water is warm, the sound of the kettle lets you know. You choose your pretty cup, the one you use to begin the day with joy. Add a spoonful of honey, another of pollen, some water, not too hot, you mix it all and your mind turns with the spoon on the same rhythm. If a seat is waiting for you, here, between branches, grass, flowers and smells, it could be a chair, a round log or a stair, then savour the beginning of the day before the tumult.
